Singapore Management University Opens First China Centre in Shenzhen With Four Partnership Agreements
SHENZHEN — Singapore Management University (SMU) opened its first China centre, "SMU China", in Shenzhen on October 22 and announced four memoranda of understanding, linking the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area with academic, industry and talent networks in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
Singapore's Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry and for Culture, Community and Youth, Low Yen Ling, attended the opening as guest of honour. The university said the centre will serve as its hub in China for joint research, student exchanges and corporate partnerships.
SMU is a public autonomous university in Singapore known for business and the social sciences. Its new Shenzhen presence is the latest move by a Singapore institution to deepen ties with the Greater Bay Area, adding a new platform for education cooperation between China and Singapore.
