Eligibility Confirmed: South Carolina Newcomer Quarles-Daniels Set for Final Exhibition on October 23

University of South Carolina women's basketball transfer guard Brooke Quarles-Daniels has officially been granted a fifth year of eligibility and will play for head coach Dawn Staley in the 2026–27 season.
According to the Greenville News' October 22 report, Quarles-Daniels is among a group of players from the class of 2022 who, under a California court ruling, were allowed to enter the transfer portal to pursue a fifth year of eligibility. On October 20, after prevailing at a preliminary injunction hearing in Glancey v. NCAA, she and the other players in the group received the official answer; Staley said the injunction is effective through next April. Speaking on October 22, Quarles-Daniels said she felt relieved and excited to get another chance to show what she can do.
The 5-foot-7 guard previously played at Oakland University and spent two seasons at the University of Michigan, averaging 5.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists last season, and earning a spot on the Big Ten All-Defensive Team with 2.5 steals per game. South Carolina plays its final exhibition at 7 p.m. on October 23 at Colonial Life Arena against Benedict College, then opens the regular season on November 2 in Paris, France, against the University of Maryland.
