CORALVILLE, Iowa — The Iowa Women's Foundation (IWF) announced $400,000 in grant funding to 15 organizations across the state that work to remove economic barriers for women and girls. The grants were announced during the foundation's 32nd annual luncheon on October 20 in Coralville, and the foundation released the news on October 22.

The funding breaks down into five areas: $116,500 for childcare initiatives, $109,400 for housing support, $73,100 for mentorship programs, $60,000 for education and training, and $41,000 for employment initiatives. Funded programs expand access to childcare, shelter, career exposure and advancement, STEM education, youth leadership and workforce readiness. Named recipients include the Catherine McAuley Center ($19,400) and the Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois ($10,000), both headquartered in Cedar Rapids.

"Every one of these grants represents an investment in what becomes possible when women and girls have greater access to opportunity," IWF President and CEO Claudia Schabel said in the news release, adding that the organizations are doing on-the-ground work on immediate barriers while the foundation and its partners work toward larger systems-level change.

The Iowa Women's Foundation is a statewide philanthropic organization dedicated to improving the economic status of women and girls through research and grantmaking. The new awards bring its historical grant total to $2.7 million across 249 organizations.
