CK Asset Issues a Second Clarification in a Week: Photos of the Li Sons at Tsz Shan Monastery Are Fake, Li Ka-shing, 98, Is in Good Health

HONG KONG, China — CK Asset Holdings issued another clarification statement on October 21, reported on October 22 by Hongxing News and other outlets. The group said that photographs circulating online claiming that "Victor Li and Richard Li went to Tsz Shan Monastery to pray, while Li Ka-shing did not attend" are untrue, and that Li Ka-shing is in good health.
The group said multiple self-media and social-media accounts had spread the claim using historical or fabricated images: some of the people in the photographs are not Victor Li or Richard Li at all, while another photograph was in fact taken on March 27, 2019, when the two attended the consecration ceremony and museum opening of Tsz Shan Monastery, and was falsely presented as recent. On that day, the group noted, Li Ka-shing attended together with both sons.
CK Asset demanded that those fabricating and spreading the rumours delete the content immediately, and said it reserved the right to pursue legal action.
It was the group's second clarification involving Li Ka-shing within a week. On October 15, rumours circulated online that the 98-year-old had died; the group responded the same day that the claim was utterly without foundation. Forbes the same day published a recap of its October 7-8 event in Singapore, in which Li appeared smiling on screen via a video call. Public records show Li Ka-shing was born on July 29, 1928, is 98 years old, founded the Cheung Kong group, and has served as a senior advisor to CK Asset since May 2018. His elder son Victor Li is chairman and managing director of CK Asset, and his younger son Richard Li is the founder, chairman and chief executive of Pacific Century Group. Li's most recent public photograph, released on May 20 this year, showed him driving an electric mobility scooter at a Peak lookout overlooking Victoria Harbour.
