National Air and Space Museum Completes Its Revamp: Final Two Galleries Open October 30 and November 11

Washington — The Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum says its eight-year, museum-wide renovation is entering the home stretch: of the final two galleries, "At Home in Space" opens on Friday, October 30, and "Modern Military Aviation" follows on Veterans Day, November 11, completing all 20 reimagined galleries.
"At Home in Space" is an immersive, highly interactive gallery that takes visitors on a 40-plus-year journey through how humans have learned to live and work in space continuously and to venture beyond Earth orbit, drawing on the Space Shuttle and International Space Station eras. "Modern Military Aviation" is anchored by the museum's military aviation collection, including the North American F-86 Sabre, the Bell UH-1H "Huey" and the General Atomics MQ-1L Predator, and explores military aviation since World War II through the people behind the technology.
The museum, at 650 Jefferson Drive SW on the National Mall in Washington, opened on July 1, 1976, and marks its 50th anniversary this year; five new galleries already debuted on July 1. Admission is free, but the National Mall building requires a free timed-entry pass. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.
