The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts announced on October 23 that Theodore Warren, 44, also known as “Monty,” of Pittsfield, was sentenced on October 22 in federal court in Springfield to 30 months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release. U.S. District Court Judge Mark G. Mastroianni imposed the sentence.

In July 2026, Warren pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine and four counts of distribution of and possession with intent to distribute cocaine. In December 2024, Warren was charged alongside his alleged co-conspirator Lavante Wiggins, the former Dean of Students at Pittsfield High School.

According to the charging documents, Wiggins allegedly operated a drug trafficking organization that distributed large amounts of cocaine in and around the Pittsfield area, and Warren was a trusted member of the organization who served as a runner for Wiggins. In August 2024, Wiggins allegedly expressed concern that he was under investigation and said he would send Warren to complete drug sales and deliver cocaine. Prosecutors allege that one of Wiggins' customers amassed a debt of more than $34,000 for cocaine that Wiggins provided on credit. Warren admitted that he, and allegedly Wiggins, then went about collecting that debt while continuing to supply large amounts of cocaine to that customer. Warren also admitted that he purchased more than one kilogram of cocaine, allegedly from Wiggins, over 15 different transactions.

U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley and Ted E. Docks, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Boston Division, made the announcement. The investigation received valuable assistance from the Holyoke, Springfield, Chicopee, West Springfield, Easthampton, and Pittsfield Police Departments; the Berkshire, Hampden, and Franklin County Sheriff's Offices; the Massachusetts State Police; and the Berkshire County District Attorney's Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Neil L. Desroches, Chief of the Springfield Branch Unit, is prosecuting the case.

The Justice Department noted that the details contained in the charging documents are allegations, and the remaining defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
