Malaysian Police Raid Fake Investment Call Centre in Johor: Five Arrested, Including One Chinese National

Police in Malaysia's Johor state raided a fake investment call centre operating from a luxury residence in Iskandar Puteri on October 18, arresting five suspects aged 18 to 41: three Malaysians, one Chinese national and one Indonesian. Police said the syndicate lured victims — targeting elderly people in Singapore — with promised returns of up to 300 percent.
Officers seized equipment worth more than 100,000 ringgit. Johor police chief Ab Rahaman Arsad said the state recorded 9,897 fraud reports from January to September this year, with losses of 212.6 million ringgit.
The suspects are in police custody and the investigation continues; the charges are allegations. This report is based on Malaysian and Indonesian media coverage of October 19.
