Thailand's Poh Teck Tung Foundation Awards Scholarships Across Five Northeastern Provinces
The Poh Teck Tung Foundation, a Chinese-Thai charitable institution in Thailand, recently travelled to five provinces in the country's northeast (Isan) to present scholarships centred on Khon Kaen, covering 53 schools and institutions with 265 awards worth 2.255 million baht in total, helping students from low-income families stay in school.
The foundation's scholarship programme has run for 51 years. For 2026, its central and regional scholarship budget totals 17.87 million baht: 1,500 primary-school awards were presented in June and 910 more in September, with the northeastern trip forming part of the annual plan.
Founded 116 years ago, the Poh Teck Tung Foundation is one of Thailand's best-known Chinese community charities, long active in disaster relief, medical aid and education.
