Friday, October 23, 2026 · Society · GSM News

LONDON — The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan, issued a statement on October 23 regarding the investigation of her father Thomas Markle in the Philippines, saying she had known of the allegations since 2018. According to Reuters, Philippine Justice Undersecretary Nicholas Ty confirmed to Reuters that an anti-trafficking task force in Cebu is investigating the 82-year-old Thomas Markle.

Britain's The Sun reported that Markle's son, Thomas Jr., alerted police after discovering a large cache of child sexual abuse images at his father's Cebu residence. In her October 23 statement, Meghan said she had received a "disturbing" referral letter from British police back in 2018, and that to protect 7-year-old Archie and 5-year-old Lilibet she keeps the children from contact with their grandfather.

Thomas Markle denied the allegations to the Daily Mail, calling them "sick lies." Reuters said it could not reach him for comment. It must be stressed that all of the above remain allegations and unilateral statements from the parties involved, and the investigation is ongoing.
