Nonprofit Associa Cares Joins Disasters Expo Texas: Exchanging Crisis-Assistance Experience With Frontline Recovery Groups

The nonprofit organization Associa Cares announced on October 22 that it participated in Disasters Expo Texas 2026, held October 14-15 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. Associa Cares is the nonprofit organization of Associa, a community management company, and its work centers on providing financial assistance to families and communities in crisis.
The two-day event brought together emergency management professionals, government agencies, first responders, and disaster recovery organizations to explore emerging challenges, share best practices, and discuss solutions to improve disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. Events of this kind put organizations responsible for pre-disaster preparation, response, and long-term rebuilding on the same platform.
Danika Knoop, executive director of Associa Cares, said effective disaster recovery requires more than responding when a crisis occurs; it requires ongoing collaboration, shared knowledge, and relationships with those working on the front lines of recovery. She said connecting with disaster relief professionals and learning from their experiences helps the organization better understand the challenges communities face and identify ways to strengthen the financial assistance it provides when families need it most.
