CBP Seizes 11 Counterfeit Richard Mille Watches Worth $2.6 Million at Dallas Fort Worth Airport

DALLAS — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that its officers at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport recently seized 11 counterfeit Richard Mille luxury watches. The shipments had arrived from China and were destined for multiple locations across the southeastern United States; had the watches been genuine, their combined manufacturer's suggested retail price would have been $2.6 million. CBP's trade enforcement specialists determined the watches were not authentic, and they were seized for bearing counterfeit registered trademarks.
"The sale of fake goods often funds criminal organizations involved in money laundering, drug trafficking, and other illicit trade," said Jayson Ahern, CBP's area port director in Dallas. "Our CBP officers are on the front lines every day guarding against defrauders, while protecting legitimate American businesses, American jobs, and the nation's economic security."
CBP said counterfeit goods are a trade-enforcement priority, with apparel, footwear, watches and jewelry among the most commonly seized categories. The agency also cautions consumers that counterfeit products may be made with substandard or harmful materials, and that buying fakes can funnel money to criminal organizations.
