Florida: Volusia County Launches State's First Domestic Abuse Offender Database

Volusia County, Florida, on October 22 officially launched the state's first county-operated Domestic Abuse Offender Database, an online resource where residents can search public records of individuals convicted of qualifying domestic abuse offenses in Volusia County.
The launch was announced at the Domestic Abuse Council of Volusia County's conference at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach. County Council Vice Chair Matt Reinhart, who spearheaded the initiative, said the database consolidates existing public record information from the Volusia County Clerk of the Circuit Court's Office into a single searchable resource, making it easier for residents to locate records and make informed, safety-conscious decisions. Previously, residents had to search through the Clerk's public records system.
The County Council approved the initiative on July 21, directing county staff to work with the Clerk's Office to develop the database. The system frequently synchronizes with the Clerk's case management system so that newly qualifying convictions are added and information stays current.
The database includes individuals convicted of qualifying domestic abuse or dating violence offenses in Volusia County in recent years, with each person's full legal name, date of birth, most recent qualifying booking photo, case numbers, relevant Florida statutes and offense dates.
