Massachusetts: Governor Announces 'Move-In Mass' Initiative to Expand Affordable Homeownership

Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey and Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll announced the Move-In Mass initiative on October 22 to expand affordable homeownership opportunities. The new program will support innovative construction methods to lower the cost of starter homes and help more Massachusetts residents achieve homeownership.
The Governor's Office described the initiative as part of the administration's broader response to housing cost pressures. The state also announced education investments the same day, including $5 million to expand high school career pathways, helping 11 new high schools plan pathways that could bring statewide enrollment to nearly 9,000 students next school year, and $14 million through the State University SUCCESS program to help at least 8,000 students across nine state universities complete their degrees.
Healey said the state has made historic investments to make college more affordable and is now making sure students have the support they need to finish. Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll said students balance classes, jobs and family responsibilities, and that SUCCESS gives state universities more resources to keep students on track to graduate.
Application procedures, funding criteria and the first projects under Move-In Mass will be announced by the state's housing officials.
