Pennsylvania: Governor Signs 58 Bills Into Law in a Single Day

Friday, October 23, 2026 · States · GSM News

In Pennsylvania, Governor Josh Shapiro signed 58 bills into law on October 22. The Governor's Office announced the signing batch the same day, as a large group of measures passed by the Legislature late in the session completed the final step to become law.

A day earlier, the administration announced it had plugged its 500th orphaned well and invested $190.3 million through PENNVEST to support 24 clean water and infrastructure projects in 19 counties. The Governor's Office said plugging abandoned oil and gas wells and upgrading water systems are part of the same work of protecting public health and supporting jobs.

Pennsylvania's Legislature is divided between the parties by chamber, and bills must pass both the House and Senate before reaching the governor. The full list of the 58 measures and their effective dates is published by the Governor's Office and the Legislature's information system, with most laws taking effect on the dates stated in each bill.
