St. Paul Police Arrest Sexual-Assault Suspect Gomez Ochoa; Public Safety Alert Canceled

Saturday, October 24, 2026 · City · GSM News

On Saturday afternoon, October 24, 2026, police in St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota, announced the arrest of sexual-assault suspect Edward Gomez Ochoa and the cancellation of the public safety alert issued earlier.

Police said that shortly before 2 p.m., a resident reported a man matching the suspect's description near Dale Street North and Wheelock Parkway West; officers responded and took him into custody without incident. Police confirmed the man was Gomez Ochoa. He was booked into the Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center and is being held on suspicion of kidnapping and first-degree burglary. Police thanked the public for its help and vigilance.

The case stems from an attempted kidnapping and burglary on the morning of October 22 at about 9:10 a.m. near the 700 block of Como Avenue, where police say a man tried to pull a woman out of an apartment window; a warrant was then issued for his arrest. In addition, the Ramsey County Attorney's Office earlier this year charged Gomez Ochoa with second-degree criminal sexual conduct and burglary in a May 7 case on the 1500 block of Westminster Street. Police remind residents to call 911 with any information and not to approach the suspect themselves.
