After 17 Years: Ryan Gosling's Dead Man's Bones to Release New Music on October 27

Ryan Gosling's indie-rock duo Dead Man's Bones, formed with musician Zach Shields, is returning after 17 years, according to Parade. The band announced in a Halloween-themed teaser video posted to social media on October 22 that new music will arrive on October 27 — its first since the duo's self-titled debut album in 2009.
Dead Man's Bones released its debut on the ANTI- label in 2009, recorded with the Silverlake Conservatory Children's Choir and built around gothic songs about ghosts and monsters. Rolling Stone described the band's sound at the time as "Arcade Fire, Tom Waits and the cast of Sesame Street performing a Kurt Weill musical." The album built a devoted following, but the project went quiet as Gosling's acting career took over.
Gosling's partner, actor Eva Mendes, teased the comeback earlier in the week, writing that she was "trying to summon new music from Dead Man's Bones," and after the teaser dropped she added: "He came through on his promise to me." The teaser revives the duo's signature spooky atmosphere and children's vocals.
No album title, track list or live dates have been announced. Gosling has continued to sing on screen in recent years, including in La La Land and with "I'm Just Ken" from Barbie, which earned him a Grammy nomination.
