ILF and Fulbright 'Global Pathfinders' Program Closes in Washington, D.C., on October 24, as 16 Taiwanese Student Leaders Complete a Two-Week Study Tour

The 'Global Pathfinders' program, jointly organized by the International Leadership Foundation and Fulbright Taiwan, held its closing reception in Washington, D.C., on October 24, celebrating 16 Taiwanese student leaders who completed a two-week study tour of the U.S. East Coast; the report was published on October 27. Sponsored by the Taiwan Ministry of Education Youth Development Administration's 'Youth Overseas Dream-Fulfillment Fund Program,' the itinerary spanned New York, Rhode Island, Boston and Washington, D.C., aiming to advance U.S.-Taiwan civic ties. The reception was hosted by Pauling Huang, a member of the ILF Founder's Circle, with guests including Randall Nadeau, Executive Director of Fulbright Taiwan; Chiling Tong, founding president of the ILF; Cheng-Chieh Huang, director of the OCAC Culture Center; and David Wu, founder of the Taiwan Garden Foundation. In his remarks, Nadeau congratulated the students and recalled an inscription the group saw during a recent visit to the Library of Congress, 'Liberty cannot be preserved without general knowledge among the people,' encouraging students to treat knowledge as the foundation of liberty, keep learning and thinking independently, and safeguard a democratic society. Nadeau also invited participants to sum up the trip in three English words; Yang-Yu Huang of National Chung Hsing University answered 'Network, Resilience, Innovation,' drawing an enthusiastic response. The organizers said young people are a bridge for Taiwan-U.S. relations, and that through civic engagement, cultural exchange and cross-generational dialogue the program has built a basis for long-term connections among U.S. and Taiwanese youth.
