RIVERSIDE COUNTY, California — The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County fell for the 23rd consecutive day on Sunday, October 25, dropping 1.2 cents to $5.891, MyNewsLA reported, citing figures from AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.

The 23-day streak has cut 43.8 cents from the county average, including 2.3 cents on Saturday alone. It began one day after a 44-day run of increases totaling 80.9 cents that brought the price within 4.4 cents of its record of $6.373, set on October 5, 2022. The county average is now 16.3 cents lower than a week ago and 33.3 cents lower than a month ago, but still $1.368 higher than a year ago.

The report attributed the decline in part to Governor Gavin Newsom's September 28 announcement allowing cheaper winter-blend gasoline to be sold immediately instead of on the customary November 1 date. The national average fell six-tenths of a cent to $4.289, nine-tenths of a cent less than a week ago and 20.2 cents less than a month ago, but $1.23 more than a year ago.
