Rennes Go Top of Ligue 1 With 3-0 Win Over Strasbourg as Sebastian Szymanski Scores Twice; Marseille Edge Le Havre 4-3

Rennes moved to the top of the Ligue 1 standings with a comprehensive 3-0 home win over RC Strasbourg on Sunday, Reuters reported. Rennes have 16 points from eight games, one point ahead of Lille and AS Monaco.
Polish midfielder Sebastian Szymanski scored twice for Rennes, with Boulaye Dia opening the scoring in a comfortable victory.
Earlier on Sunday, Lille and Monaco drew 1-1 in the Principality to stay level on 15 points. Ethan Mbappe opened the scoring in the 24th minute as Lille dominated the first half. New Monaco coach Filipe Luis made a series of second-half changes, and after Tanguy Nianzou was sent off in the 66th minute, Edan Diop equalised in the 74th.
Champions Paris St Germain and Olympique Lyonnais are next on 14 points and meet in the capital on Monday. The match at the Parc des Princes was moved from Sunday to Monday after police raised security concerns ahead of weekend protests that drew hundreds of thousands of demonstrators on Saturday; largely peaceful rallies gave way to clashes after nightfall.
Also on Sunday, Olympique de Marseille, stuck in the relegation zone only weeks ago, beat Le Havre 4-3 at home to climb to eighth with 12 points. Marseille led 4-0 in the 55th minute but nearly threw the win away as Le Havre fought back to 4-3 with a minute to go; a Le Havre penalty claim for handball seven minutes into stoppage time was waved away after a VAR review, sealing Marseille's third straight league win. Le Havre remain bottom with two points from eight games, three behind Troyes, who drew 0-0 at Toulouse. Elsewhere, Lorient drew 0-0 at Angers and AJ Auxerre were held 1-1 at home by Le Mans.
