Prime Minister's Schedule for October 26: Meeting First Nations Leaders in the Morning, Banquet in the Evening to Welcome the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi

According to the schedule released in advance by the Prime Minister's Office of Canada on October 25, the Prime Minister of Canada has three public activities scheduled in the capital region on October 26. At 8:45 a.m., the Prime Minister will co-chair a First Ministers' meeting with First Nations leaders; this is an important mechanism for regular dialogue between the federal government and Indigenous leaders, with topics usually covering housing, healthcare, education and economic development in Indigenous communities, and the meeting will be covered by pooled media. At 3:30 p.m., the Prime Minister will hold a media availability to answer journalists' questions, at which trade, economic and diplomatic issues of outside concern may all be raised; the availability is open to accredited media. At 6:00 p.m., the Prime Minister will host a banquet to welcome the visiting Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the Prime Minister's remarks at the banquet will be covered by pooled media. The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi's official visit to Canada begins on October 26, during which he will meet with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to discuss how to strengthen bilateral relations, advance the two countries' strategic partnership, and expand cooperation in priority areas. Relations between the UAE and Canada span more than fifty years, and both sides have expressed their intention to further strengthen economic ties and broaden cooperation in various fields on the basis of mutual trust. Notably, the timing of this schedule's release comes as Canada-US trade negotiations intertwine with Canadian domestic economic issues, and the Prime Minister's statements that day may become a clue for markets and public opinion to read policy direction.
