Los Angeles TCM Masterclass Wraps Up October 25: Three Days Delving into Chinese Medicine Pattern Differentiation for Skin and Autoimmune Diseases

Monday, October 26, 2026 · Health · GSM News

On October 25, a three-day masterclass in traditional Chinese medicine held its final day at Yo San University in Los Angeles. Taught by veteran TCM practitioner Mazin Al-Khafaji, the masterclass focused on the TCM treatment of skin diseases, autoimmune and allergic conditions — a special combined edition of his masterclass series put together at students' request. The course centered on chronic inflammation, autoimmune and stubborn skin diseases, and covered topics including the role of the classical TCM concept of "hidden pathogens" in chronic relapsing diseases, clinical experience with complex skin diseases, and the relationships among inflammation, immune dysregulation and barrier dysfunction. Drawing on nearly forty years of clinical experience, the instructor used a series of connected lectures and detailed cases to explain how classical theory applies directly to the treatment of complex modern diseases. The organizer noted that this was the last opportunity for a long time for U.S. students to attend this masterclass series in person, and that the course was aimed at TCM practitioners and students with some foundation, with the goal of thoroughly explaining the pattern-differentiation thinking behind difficult and complex cases rather than stopping at single formulas or single herbs.
