On October 25, Oakland welcomed the 34th Rockridge Halloween Parade, a free family tradition held around College Avenue with more than 40 trick-or-treat stops along the route. According to the organizer, the Montclair Village Association, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day families could trick-or-treat and join a treasure hunt in Montclair Village, with live music, craft stations and face painting on site; the Rockridge parade itself features a costume contest in which children and pets alike can dress up and compete, and shops and residents along the street take part, forming a lively holiday corridor. The Rockridge parade is now in its 34th year and is one of the East Bay's most popular family Halloween events, drawing large crowds of families who arrive early to claim spots every year. The organizer reminded attendees that streets along the parade route get crowded on Sunday morning, and families should plan parking and walking routes ahead and wear comfortable shoes for moving among the 40-plus stops.
