San Francisco Mid-Century Home Sells for About $10 Million Over Asking, Setting a City Record for the Premium Amount

San Francisco, San Francisco County, California — A mid-century home in San Francisco recently sold for about $10 million over its asking price, setting the largest over-asking amount in San Francisco history. Real estate website Realtor reported the transaction on October 26, saying it reflects how money flowing in from the super intelligence boom is reshaping San Francisco's high-end market.
Built in 1966 and designed by San Francisco architecture firm Whisler-Patri, the home had been held by the same family for more than 40 years. The seller was the family trust of the late Bob Lurie, former owner of the San Francisco Giants. The report said the property is prized for its large lot, private garden and views toward the Presidio.
The report also noted that San Francisco's high-end market has not been hit by rising mortgage rates the way the broader market has. Many high-priced homes sell for cash, with buyers needing no loans. Over the past few months, many San Francisco homes have sold well above asking, showing that competition for scarce quality homes is still heating up in the face of new SI-driven wealth.
