Ground Broken for Chapanoke Affordable Housing Community in Raleigh; 200 Homes for Low- and Moderate-Income Families

Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina — According to an announcement released on October 26, a groundbreaking ceremony was recently held for the Chapanoke affordable housing community on Chapanoke Road in Raleigh. Developed by Raleigh Community Partners, a group formed by three developers, the community represents a total investment of nearly $58 million and will provide 200 homes. The homes include one-, two- and three-bedroom layouts, aimed at households earning between 30% and 70% of the area median income. The site sits next to Wake Technical Community College's Public Safety Education Campus and near the planned Southern Wake Bus Rapid Transit corridor, so once completed, residents will have easier access to schools, training institutions and jobs. The developers said the project, years in the making, is the product of a public-private partnership and will add a supply of quality housing locally once built. The community is expected to be completed in early 2028, providing new housing options for low- and moderate-income families in Wake County and a long-term public asset for the surrounding neighborhoods.
