Soul Train Awards Return to Chicago's Harris Theater; Anthony Anderson to Host as the Show Makes Its CBS Debut

Chicago, Cook County, Illinois — The City of Chicago and BET confirmed on October 26 that the 2026 Soul Train Awards will be held on November 27 at the Harris Theater in Chicago, hosted by actor and comedian Anthony Anderson. The ceremony will air on BET and, for the first time, simultaneously on CBS, in a major homecoming for the awards.
The Soul Train television brand was born in Chicago, and the city sees its return home as a chance to showcase the local music history and creative economy. The city said the partnership is not only about honoring Chicago's influence on American music, but also about creating opportunities for local artists, production crews and small businesses. Chicago-born singer Chaka Khan has been confirmed to receive the classic soul honor, with more performers and honorees to be announced.
The ceremony is set for 7 p.m. Central Time on November 27. The organizers have not yet announced public admission or ticketing arrangements. The city and BET said the awards' return to Chicago will put the city's cultural venues at the center of a national television celebration, bringing the celebration of soul and R&B back to where it began.
