Follow-Up: Bank of Hawaii Q3 EPS of $1.49 Misses Expectations

Honolulu, Hawaii — Bank of Hawaii reported third-quarter 2026 results on Oct. 26, with earnings per share of $1.49, below the market consensus of $1.52. Revenue for the quarter was $200.11 million, also below the expected $203.16 million. Year over year, however, revenue still grew 9.6%, and EPS was higher than the $1.20 of the same period last year.
Bank of Hawaii is one of the oldest local banks in Hawaii, headquartered in Honolulu with business across the islands. After the Q3 release, market attention focused on net interest margin and asset quality. The bank's net interest margin for the quarter was 2.82%, up 4 basis points from the prior quarter; its Tier 1 capital ratio was 14.4%, a fairly solid level.
Analysts noted that the twin misses on revenue and EPS mainly reflect overly high market expectations for the quarter rather than a clear deterioration in fundamentals. Bank of Hawaii shares are up about 3.3% this year, underperforming the S&P 500's 11.4% gain over the same period. On the day of the release, the bank also announced it will maintain its quarterly dividend of $0.70 per share, with a record date of Nov. 30 and a payment date of Dec. 14.
