Sheng Thao Trial Day 7: Defense Cross-Examines FBI Agent, Says Prosecutors Cherry-Picked Messages and Recordings

In Oakland, Alameda County, California, the corruption trial of former Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao entered its seventh day on Monday, October 26, as defense attorney Jeffrey Tsai cross-examined FBI Special Agent Katherine Barclay, arguing that prosecutors had selectively presented text messages and recordings to the jury.
During the cross-examination, Barclay repeatedly confirmed that the communications presented did not establish that Thao herself had struck deals. Co-defendants Andre Jones and David Duong of California Waste Solutions have pleaded not guilty.
The trial continues at the federal courthouse in Oakland.
