Trump Breaks With Bill Maher in Record 1,323-Word Post: 'Don't Call Anymore,' and Says He May Move the White House Press Corps

President Donald Trump on Sunday night, October 25, published a 1,323-word post on Truth Social breaking with HBO host Bill Maher, calling him a "complete and total loser" and writing near the end: "Bill: Don't call anymore." According to a CNN analysis and the tracking database Factbase, it is the longest of the 97,455 social media posts Trump has made since 2011. The post also contained a piece of substantive news: Trump confirmed he has considered moving the White House press corps out of the workspace it has used for decades.
The two had only recently patched things up. Maher first dined with Trump at the White House in March 2025. On October 15 they dined there a second time, joined by ESPN host Stephen A. Smith and musician Kid Rock. Smith said on his podcast the next day that the group spent over four hours at the White House and that "Donald Trump did not run from any questions." On October 16 Trump called it a "great dinner" and said Maher "likes me a lot more than people understand, and I actually like him."
The turn came on Friday's (October 23) edition of HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher, Maher's first episode since the second dinner, with guests including former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, California gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton and Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear. Maher defended the dinner on air, saying he says to the president's face what others write in articles he will never read, adding: "We should talk. I'm glad that we talked."
In the post, Trump pushed back point by point: he called Maher "a hopeless guy" and "a coward," said he would never watch the show again "because it is nothing more than FAKE NEWS," said Maher's business partner Chuck LaBella had lobbied hard for the second meeting saying how much Maher respects him, questioned the laughter on the show by asking what "Laughter Machine" Maher uses, said the dinner lasted about two hours rather than four, and said he would have Republicans stop appearing on the program.
The post's claim about approval ratings was quickly checked. Trump wrote that a CNN poll showed him at 98 to 99 percent support within the Republican Party, an all-time record. CNN noted its most recent poll, released last week, showed Trump with 74 percent approval among Republicans, a new numeric low, and that the 98-99 percent figures likely came from a weeks-old clip of CNN analyst Harry Enten citing another network's poll of self-described MAGA Republicans.
On the press workspace, Trump wrote: "I am thinking about moving the Press, and putting them in a different location, but I will use that location for very badly needed space," confirming recent reports that the White House may relocate the press corps. Factbase's operators said on X that the post was nearly twice the length of the previous record, a 723-word post from May that began with complaints about the Kennedy Center's plumbing and air conditioning before turning to a federal judge and his wife, the Supreme Court's tariff ruling and birthright citizenship.
