A resident of West Mifflin, in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, was sentenced in federal court in Pittsburgh on October 26, 2026, to 40 months of imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release, on his conviction of possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, United States Attorney Troy Rivetti announced. United States District Judge Mark R. Hornak imposed the sentence on Davion Xavier Thompson, 23, who pleaded guilty to the charge in June 2026.

According to information presented to the court, on January 23, 2026, Thompson knowingly possessed a Glock-style handgun with an extended magazine. Attached to the rear of the unserialized handgun was a machinegun conversion device, also known as a Glock switch. Thompson is prohibited from possessing both a firearm and ammunition as a result of prior felony convictions for carrying a firearm without a license and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Assistant United States Attorneys Kelly M. Locher and Nathaniel G. Ecker prosecuted the case. Rivetti commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General's Narcotics Task Force, the Allegheny County District Attorney's Narcotics Enforcement Team (DANET), the Stowe Township Police Department and the McKees Rocks Police Department for the investigation.

The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence.
