St. Louis Blues Condemn Anti-Israel Banners at Home Game as “Vile Messages of Hate”; Fans Ejected
The NHL's St. Louis Blues condemned anti-Israel banners displayed during Thursday's home game against the Vegas Golden Knights — a 6-2 Blues win — calling them “vile messages of hate” and saying the fans involved were ejected, according to Reuters.
The banners read “Free America from Israel” and “Israel kills,” according to the report. “Antisemitism has no place in our community, and we will never allow it in our building,” Blues chairman Tom Stillman said in a statement. The team said the fans were removed from the arena after the incident.
The team did not release the number or identities of the fans involved. The incident comes amid heightened scrutiny of banners and signs at U.S. sports venues during continued tensions in the Middle East.
