Intel to Acquire Quantum Software Firm Classiq to Build a Full-Stack Quantum Platform, Closing Expected in First Half of 2027

Intel Corporation on October 26 announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Classiq, a leading provider of quantum computing software based in Tel Aviv, Israel. Combining Classiq's synthesis platform with Intel's spin-qubit manufacturing and existing software would create a user-friendly full-stack quantum computing platform. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Classiq's platform is agnostic to the underlying qubit modality and hardware, providing a high-level abstraction that lets developers, researchers and enterprises build scalable quantum applications without deep expertise in quantum circuit design. Intel said the combination would make it a full-stack quantum solutions provider and add Quantum Processing Units (QPUs) to a compute portfolio spanning CPUs, GPUs and ASICs; after closing, Intel intends to keep supporting Classiq's existing multi-platform integrations and its hardware-agnostic software ecosystem.
'I am delighted to have Nir, Yehuda, Amir and the entire Classiq team join Intel,' said Lip-Bu Tan, chief executive officer of Intel, noting that Intel has applied its semiconductor innovation, advanced manufacturing and systems engineering to scalable silicon spin-qubit technology for more than a decade, and that joining forces with Classiq transforms Intel's Quantum Computing Group into a full-stack quantum computing business. Nir Minerbi, co-founder and chief executive officer of Classiq, said the two companies together can help unlock the benefits of quantum computing and accelerate its adoption.
Intel has invested in quantum computing since 2015 and says it is the only company capable of producing qubit chips and complex cryogenic control electronics at scale using equipment and processes common to conventional silicon semiconductor manufacturing. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions and is expected to close in the first half of 2027; until closing, the two companies will continue to operate separately.
