White House Releases 'Make Your Plan to Vote' Guide: Nov. 3 Election Day, Three Ways to Vote and Key Deadlines

The White House on October 26 released a "Make Your Plan to Vote" guide for the 2026 midterm elections, reminding voters that Election Day is Tuesday, November 3. Early voting is already underway across much of the country, and voters may choose how to cast their ballot: vote early in person, vote by mail, or vote in person on Election Day.
For mail voting, the White House urged voters to request a ballot now — in several states, the deadline to request a mail ballot is as soon as Tuesday, October 27 — and to return it right away by mail, through an official drop box, or at an election office, noting that some states require ballots to arrive by Election Day and voters should not wait until the last minute.
Online and mail voter registration closes today, October 26, in Colorado, Hawaii and Washington, the guide said, while many states allow same-day registration. The White House also encouraged voters to forward the guide to friends and family and vote together, and pointed voters to Vote.gov to check their registration status, state deadlines and polling places.
