Follow-up: Serbia Count Nears 97 Percent: Student List Leads With 52.65%, CeSID Projects 140 Seats

Monday, October 26, 2026 · World · GSM News

Serbia's Republic Electoral Commission (RIK) said that by midday on October 26 it had processed 8,139 of the country's 8,392 polling stations, about 97 percent: the Student List had 2,246,796 votes, or 52.65 percent, while President Aleksandar Vucic's United Serbia list had 1,673,607 votes, or 39.22 percent — a gap of 13.43 percentage points.

The commission has not yet published an official seat allocation. A projection by the Center for Free Elections and Democracy (CeSID) and Ipsos, based on a sample of about 96 percent, gives the Student List 140 of the National Assembly's 250 seats, United Serbia 103, and minority parties seven in total (Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians three, Albanian Coalition two, the Rasim Ljajic list one and the SDA of Sandzak one). Election monitor CRTA put the Student List in a range of 136 to 140 seats. A parliamentary majority requires 126 seats.

Vucic conceded defeat on the evening of October 25 based on sampling estimates. Final results will be announced only after the commission completes the count and certifies it under the legal procedure; the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) observation mission is due to present its preliminary findings in Belgrade on the afternoon of October 26.
