Trump Announces $1 Million Reward for Voter Fraud Tips Leading to Arrest and Conviction, Covering Past Elections and the 2026 Midterms

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on October 26 in a post on his Truth Social platform that anyone who reports voter fraud will be paid $1 million once their report leads to the arrest and conviction of those who created the fraud, covering past elections as well as the upcoming 2026 midterm elections. Reuters reported the announcement on October 26, about a week before the November 3 midterm Election Day, with early voting already under way in more than 30 states.

"Anybody reporting Voter Fraud in the past Elections, or the upcoming 2026 Midterm Election, will be paid $1,000,000 upon the arrest and conviction of those that created the Fraud," Trump wrote. The post did not specify the source of funding for the reward or the agency that would administer it, and the Reuters report mentioned no accompanying executive order or implementation rules.

According to Reuters, the announcement is the latest step in the Trump administration's increasingly aggressive approach to election oversight: the administration has pressed states for voter-registration data and argued that stricter measures are needed to ensure public confidence in the vote. Reuters has previously reported that some election officials are preparing for potential federal interference in the midterms, while critics, including political experts as well as Democratic and some Republican election officials, view the moves as federal overreach.

Republicans currently hold narrow majorities in both the Senate and the House of Representatives, and the November 3 midterms will decide control of Congress. Earlier the same day, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced that 48 noncitizens in five states had been charged with election-related crimes, 28 of them in California; the White House has also published a midterm voting-plan guide setting out Election Day and three ways to vote.
