Caltrans Advisory: Intermittent Lane Closures on Pacific Coast Highway and Topanga Canyon Boulevard in Los Angeles County, Oct. 27-30

Tuesday, October 27, 2026 · California · GSM News

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) advised that Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) and Topanga Canyon Boulevard (State Route 27) in Los Angeles County, California, will see intermittent lane closures during the daytime from Tuesday through Friday, October 27 to 30, as crews work in the Palisades Fire recovery zones. On PCH, crews may close one lane between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays, and motorists should expect delays.

According to Caltrans, on Topanga Canyon Boulevard, about a half-mile north of PCH, flaggers will direct alternating traffic through intermittent one-lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday to allow trucks to enter and leave the work zone. The speed limit in the Topanga Canyon Boulevard work zone is 15 mph. Caltrans advised motorists to use caution around blind curves, consider alternate routes during construction hours, and noted that fines can be doubled in work zones. Drivers can check current conditions on the Caltrans QuickMap website at quickmap.dot.ca.gov.

In addition, under Caltrans nighttime work arrangements reported by local media, State Route 1 (PCH) drops to a single lane in both directions between Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly from Monday, October 26, through Friday, October 30, for slope repair operations, while crews place heavy rock slope protection along Thornhill Broome Beach north of Sycamore Canyon Road to shield the roadway from coastal erosion ahead of winter storms.
