California DMV Delays Bakersfield Southwest Office Reopening From Nov. 2 to Nov. 24

The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) announced on October 27 that its Bakersfield Southwest office, at 7000 Schirra Court in Bakersfield, Kern County, California, will reopen at 8 a.m. on November 24 instead of November 2 as previously announced. The office has been temporarily closed for renovations since July 24.
The DMV said more time is needed to complete renovations that will improve the experience for customers and staff, including flooring replacement, modular systems furniture reconfiguration and replacement, fresh interior and exterior paint, exterior signage replacement, and parking lot resurfacing.
Until the renovations are complete, customers can visit four area offices: Bakersfield at 3120 F Street, about 10 miles away; Arvin at 317 Campus Drive, about 21 miles; Taft at 165 Center Street, about 30 miles, open only on Tuesdays and Thursdays; and Delano at 631 Jefferson Street, about 38 miles. The DMV also noted that most tasks do not require an office visit and can be completed online at dmv.ca.gov, including eligible driver's license and vehicle registration renewals.
