Christ Cathedral Screens "Tolton: From Slave to Priest" on Nov. 13: $20 Suggested Donation, Post-Film Q&A

Christ Cathedral in Garden Grove, Orange County, California, will screen the film "Tolton: From Slave to Priest" on Friday, Nov. 13, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Freed Theater in the cathedral's Cultural Center, 13280 Chapman Ave, Garden Grove, CA 92840.
The 78-minute film tells the true story of Fr. Augustus Tolton, America's first Black Catholic priest, from his family's escape from slavery in Missouri to his ordination in Rome and ministry in Quincy, Illinois. A post-film Q&A with the Diocesan Anti-Racism Committee and gospel praise and worship follow the screening.
Tickets are a $20 suggested donation per person ($10 minimum), available through Zeffy and at toltonmovie.com; proceeds go to Saint Luke Productions and the Shrine for Venerable Fr. Augustus Tolton in Quincy. The cathedral notes the film contains historical racial slurs and imagery that may frighten children, and the poster lists it as suitable for ages 10 and up.
