Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun hosted the regular press conference on October 27, 2026. A Xinhua reporter noted that a safety advisory had recently been issued reminding Chinese citizens to be aware of UK entry and exit inspections, and asked the spokesperson for more details. Guo said China had recently received multiple reports of Chinese citizens being detained and questioned for long periods by British border enforcement officers, with their mobile phones and other electronic devices seized.

Guo said China expresses strong dissatisfaction with and grave concern over the arbitrary and excessive law enforcement by the British police, has lodged stern representations with the British side, and will make every effort to safeguard the personal safety and legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens.

Guo reminded Chinese citizens planning to travel to the United Kingdom to read carefully the advisory on UK entry and exit inspections to avoid inconvenience and losses.

According to the Foreign Ministry, Guo also took questions at the same briefing on topics including a photo exhibition in New York marking the 80th anniversary of the opening of the Tokyo Trial, the situation in the Middle East and Gulf region, and EU trade measures.
