Duarte, Los Angeles County, California: Vallarta Supermarkets Opens First Duarte Store, Its 66th Location, Bringing About 200 Jobs
Duarte, a city in Los Angeles County, California, has welcomed its first Vallarta Supermarkets store. The city posted a welcome message on October 26 for the Latin grocery chain, whose Duarte store held its ribbon-cutting opening on October 21 at 1470 Mountain Ave. It is Vallarta's 66th location across California and Arizona.
According to Vallarta Supermarkets' opening announcement, the new store spans about 45,839 square feet in a space formerly occupied by a Best Buy, and brings about 200 jobs to the area. The first 300 customers on opening day received a complimentary reusable grocery bag filled with groceries, and Vallarta donated a combined $10,000 to five local schools and charitable organizations.
The store introduces SushiOro, Vallarta's new in-store sushi concept, along with signature departments including house-made corn and flour tortillas, the Panadería bakery, the Carnicería meat counter, the Pescadería and Cevichería seafood counters, and the La Cocina kitchen. "We're excited to open our doors in Duarte and become part of this community," said Allie Garcia, Vice President of Marketing at Vallarta Supermarkets. "With every new store, our goal is to create a welcoming destination where families can find fresh, high-quality ingredients that reflect the cultures and traditions they love." Founded in 1985 and based in Santa Clarita, Vallarta employs more than 9,000 people.
