Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee Breaks Ground on $89 Million New Campus in Nashville, Davidson County: 200,000-Square-Foot Campus to Open in Early 2028

Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee, October 27 — Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee broke ground today on its new site at 1301 Donelson Pike, just south of Nashville International Airport, launching construction of an $89 million, 200,000-square-foot new campus. The campus sits on 23.6 acres; construction will begin in December, with completion expected in fall 2027 and an opening in early 2028, which will mark the organization's 50th year of service in Davidson County. The food bank has spent 25 years at its current 10-acre MetroCenter campus, and the new campus will more than double its footprint. Nancy Keil, president and CEO of Second Harvest, said the concept for the new campus is "food first, but not food alone": the organization will serve as an entry point, working with a group of nonprofit partners to connect clients with a wider range of resources. Once the new campus is built, the food bank's warehousing, sorting and distribution capacity will all increase, and with partners on site, clients are expected to be able to access multiple services beyond food in one location. For families in the Nashville area who rely on food assistance, the campus is a major upgrade to the region's charitable infrastructure in the coming years.
