Micron Announces Over $67 Million in New Idaho Community Investments on October 27 for Transit, Housing and Children's Savings

Boise, Ada County, Idaho — Micron Technology announced on October 27 that it will invest more than $67 million in Idaho communities to expand public transportation across the Treasure Valley, improve affordable housing and homeownership opportunities, and help Idaho children begin saving at a young age. The investment continues the community investment framework Micron announced in 2023 alongside Governor Brad Little and Boise Mayor Lauren McLean, meant to ensure communities hosting Micron's expansion share in its benefits, with a focus on transportation, housing, workforce and family priorities. Of the total, $11.6 million will expand public transit and $10.5 million will fund area housing initiatives, while more than $45 million will go to over 181,000 Idaho children through children's savings accounts; Micron has contributed about $75 million to Idaho communities since 2023. The company said the framework targets the priorities of the communities hosting its growth, putting money directly into residents' daily commutes and housing needs. No per-project disbursement timetable was given, and implementation details will follow from the company and local governments. Boise is Micron's headquarters and the main beneficiary of the investment.
