19 Adoptable New Mexico Pets Transferred to Salt Lake City to Free Shelter Space for Flood-Displaced Animals
SALT LAKE CITY, Salt Lake County, Utah — The Best Friends Animal Society announced on October 25 that it was transferring 19 adoptable animals — 10 puppies, three adult dogs, and six cats — from an animal shelter in Grants, New Mexico, to its Salt Lake City adoption center, with receiving placements arranged for each animal.
The organization said the animals were already awaiting adoption and were not newly displaced by flooding; the transfer is intended to free shelter space for pets displaced by flooding in the Navajo Nation and western New Mexico. Local media reported the animals were expected to arrive in Salt Lake City on the afternoon of October 26; as of publication, completion of the transfer had not been further confirmed.
