Escondido, San Diego County, California: Crews Battle Commercial Building Fire on Industrial Ave With 9 Engines, No Injuries Reported

A commercial building in Escondido, San Diego County, California, caught fire early on October 23, the Escondido Fire Department reported on October 26. Firefighters were dispatched at about 5:03 a.m. after North Com reported smoke billowing from the structure at 1479 Industrial Ave. The first arriving unit found a one-story commercial building with heavy smoke coming from the roof, and a second alarm was requested due to the size of the building and the potential for the fire to spread.
Aggressive action by firefighters located, contained, and controlled the fire and kept it from spreading to the entire building, the department said. The main fire unit suffered significant damage, and adjoining units suffered minimal damage. In all, 9 fire engines, 3 truck companies, 2 rescue ambulances, and 3 battalion chiefs responded to the fire. No injuries were reported. Escondido Police units provided road closures, and assistance was provided by the San Marcos, Rancho Santa Fe, and Vista fire departments. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
