Nucor Q3 Net Earnings Hit $1.32 Billion: Sales Up 32% to $11.25 Billion, EPS of $5.80 Beats Estimates

Nucor Corporation (NYSE: NUE), the largest U.S. steelmaker, on Oct. 26 reported results for the third quarter of 2026: net sales of $11.25 billion, up 32% from $8.52 billion a year earlier; net earnings attributable to stockholders of $1.32 billion, or $5.80 per diluted share, more than double the $607 million, or $2.63 per share, of a year ago; and EBITDA of $2.28 billion. The quarter covered the 13 weeks ended Oct. 3, 2026.
The company said growth was driven by higher prices and volumes: external average selling prices rose 19% year over year and external sales volumes rose 11%. The $5.80 EPS topped a consensus estimate of about $5.71 and the company's own September guidance range of $5.55 to $5.65. Through the first nine months of 2026, Nucor generated about $2.7 billion of free cash flow and returned nearly $1.4 billion to shareholders.
Chair and CEO Leon Topalian said 2026 had been the safest summer in Nucor's history, noting the first heat at its West Virginia sheet mill in September and the recent start-up of a second galvanizing line at Nucor Steel Berkeley. The company expects fourth-quarter earnings to be generally in line with or modestly higher than the third quarter. (Source: Nucor company release via PR Newswire)
