Fleet Week San Diego Opens Nov. 1: Free Navy Band Southwest Concert at 2 P.M. at Chula Vista's Bayfront Park

Fleet Week San Diego, in San Diego County, California, runs Nov. 1-15 this year with 18 events — the largest schedule in its history — and its public events are free to attend.
On opening day, Sunday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m., the roughly 40-member Navy Band Southwest performs a free one-hour outdoor concert at Bayfront Park in Chula Vista. Other public highlights include Meet the Fleet on Nov. 7 at Naval Base San Diego, when the base opens to the public for ship tours and military displays (Nov. 6 is a student STEM day); a Fleet Week Boat Parade on Harbor Drive following the Veterans Day Parade on Nov. 11, with a concert at Broadway Pier; and public ship tours at Broadway Pier from Nov. 13 to 15.
This year's Fleet Week marks both America's 250th anniversary and the San Diego Fleet Week Foundation's 25th anniversary. A special concert pairing a military band with the Spreckels Organ Pavilion organ in Balboa Park is also planned; see the official calendar for its date. Cost: Free.
