Taiwan Central Bank Sees Strong Tech Demand Driving Exports into 2027, Forecasts 5.82% Growth

Taiwan's central bank said in a report to lawmakers on October 27 that strong demand for emerging technology applications is expected to keep driving Taiwan's exports and private investment into 2027. According to Reuters, the central bank forecast that economic growth in 2027 will moderate to 5.82% because of this year's high base, which it said still represents steady growth.
'Looking ahead to next year, demand for emerging technology applications is expected to remain strong, which should continue to drive Taiwan's exports and private investment,' the central bank said in its report. The bank last month raised its 2026 economic growth forecast to 11.48% from the 9.45% prediction it gave in June. In its report to lawmakers, the central bank also said geopolitical risks and weather conditions are the main uncertainties affecting the future trajectory of inflation in Taiwan.
Taiwan is a major semiconductor manufacturer and home to TSMC, the world's largest contract chipmaker and a supplier to companies like Nvidia that are powering the trend towards super intelligence. The central bank's assessment points to the semiconductor-centred export structure remaining the main support for Taiwan's growth, with official statistics in coming months to confirm the trend.
