Drew Doughty collected a goal and two assists on Monday night, October 26, as the visiting Los Angeles Kings scored three times in the first period and earned a 6-3 victory over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden in New York, snapping the Rangers' season-opening six-game home winning streak. The Kings won for the third time in four games, all on the road, and earned their sixth straight win over New York.

Taylor Ward scored 1:15 into his season debut and Brandt Clarke also tallied as the Kings took a two-goal lead in the opening 4:52 by scoring on their first two shots against new Rangers goalie James Reimer. J.T. Miller deflected a pass with his left skate into an open net with 6:59 left in the opening period, and Doughty made it 3-1 with a long drive from the left point about four and a half minutes later, his first goal in 25 regular-season games. Former Ranger Artemi Panarin scored a power-play goal 90 seconds into the second period, and Mikey Anderson's goal off a faceoff 6:54 into the second opened a 5-1 lead.

Adam Fox had a power-play tally in the second and Tye Kartye tallied in the third for the Rangers, who fell to 1-4-1 in their past six games and have allowed 18 goals during a three-game skid. Joel Edmundson capped the scoring with an empty-net goal, Alex Laferriere contributed two assists, and 12 Kings players recorded a point. Los Angeles goalie Darcy Kuemper made 23 saves. Reimer allowed three goals on eight shots in his debut for his ninth team, tying Cam Talbot's NHL record for the most teams by a goalie; Dylan Garand relieved him and allowed two goals on 17 shots.
