Mexican National Sentenced to 60 Months for Leading Methamphetamine Distribution Conspiracy Involving About 20 Kilograms

Tuesday, October 27, 2026 · Justice · GSM News

A Mexican national has been sentenced to 60 months in federal prison for leading a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Arizona said Sebastian Higuera-Fuentes, 23, of Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, was sentenced on October 27 after previously pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

U.S. District Judge Raner C. Collins sentenced Higuera-Fuentes to 60 months in prison, followed by four years of supervised release.

As part of the conspiracy, Higuera-Fuentes was involved in the distribution of approximately 20 kilograms of pure methamphetamine. He acted as a leader, negotiating pricing, arranging meeting times and locations, and directing co-conspirators to deliver the drugs. As a direct result of law enforcement's efforts, the methamphetamine never made it into Arizona communities.

The prosecution is part of the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) initiative established by Executive Order 14159. The Tucson investigation involved the Drug Enforcement Administration in Detroit and Tucson, Homeland Security Investigations, the FBI, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the ATF, the U.S. Marshals Service, IRS Criminal Investigation, Customs and Border Protection, the Border Patrol, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the Secret Service and the Bureau of Land Management. Assistant U.S. Attorney David Petermann handled the prosecution. The case number is 24-CR-6720-TUC-RCC.
