Sam Altman Takes the Stage at Oracle AI World in Las Vegas: OpenAI and Oracle Expand Partnership to Put ChatGPT and Codex Inside Enterprise Applications

Tuesday, October 27, 2026 · Technology · GSM News

Sam Altman, chief executive officer of OpenAI, took the stage on October 27 at Oracle AI World 2026 in Las Vegas, appearing alongside Clay Magouyrk, chief executive officer of Oracle. The same day, Oracle announced a major expanded collaboration with OpenAI that brings OpenAI's models, ChatGPT and Codex together with Oracle's applications, data and cloud infrastructure, launching an expanded suite of four products spanning enterprise operations, application development, cybersecurity and support for small businesses.

According to CNBC's live coverage of the event, the joint session with Altman and Magouyrk began at 12:40 p.m. Eastern Time, after Magouyrk delivered a keynote at 9:00 a.m. Oracle AI World runs from October 25 to 28 in Las Vegas. Oracle said the two companies share an ambition to set the standard for the agent-ready enterprise, partnering to transform Oracle's applications for agents and bring them into a unified experience in ChatGPT.

The suite's first offering, Oracle AI Workspace, provides a single user experience that brings OpenAI frontier models together with Oracle applications, enterprise data and cloud services. Through plugins in ChatGPT, employees can access information, complete approved business workflows and take action alongside Oracle systems, connecting tools including Oracle Fusion Applications, Oracle NetSuite, Oracle AI Database and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Oracle AI Security Mesh is a managed service that uses OpenAI cyber models to help customers find and fix vulnerabilities in their applications and infrastructure across OCI, other clouds and on-premises environments before attackers can exploit them. Oracle App Composer helps employees turn ideas into enterprise applications without requiring coding expertise, building with Codex while Oracle manages deployment and operations on OCI; it also supports APEXlang, a new Oracle technology. The Oracle AI SMB Bundle is a free-to-start package for small businesses that provides $12,000 in Oracle cloud credits each year, bringing together ChatGPT Business, Oracle AI Workspace, Codex and Oracle App Composer, and NetSuite QuickStart for managing core operations such as invoicing and cash flow.

"OpenAI is transforming how enterprises solve business problems, from chat, to coding, to analytics, to autonomous agents," said Clay Magouyrk, CEO of Oracle. "With this new product suite, we are uniting their transformative AI capabilities with Oracle applications, data, and cloud infrastructure, technology that businesses around the world rely on to run their most critical operations." Greg Brockman, president and co-founder of OpenAI, said: "More businesses are choosing OpenAI as we make it easier to put AI to work through the tools and systems they already use. Our expanded partnership with Oracle helps bring that opportunity to more companies, putting frontier AI into everyday operations so teams can build software faster, strengthen security and take on more complex knowledge work."

According to CNBC, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is also adding support for Google's tensor processing units, OpenAI's Jalapeno chip and Cerebras systems, the first time Google's custom chips will run on another hyperscaler's cloud. Oracle shares rose nearly 5 percent on Tuesday after the announcements, and Cerebras stock climbed about 8 percent, CNBC reported.
