Pacific Symphony in Costa Mesa Nov. 19-21: Nobuyuki Tsujii Performs Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 3 at Segerstrom Concert Hall

Tuesday, October 27, 2026 · Performance · GSM News

The Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa, Orange County, California, will host Pacific Symphony's 2026-27 classical program "Nobu Plays Rachmaninoff's Mighty Third" from November 19 to 21: pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii performs Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 with conductor Alexander Shelley on the podium, with all three performances starting at 8 p.m.

The program pairs two works. Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 is among the most demanding and emotionally powerful concertos in the piano repertoire, described by the orchestra as a masterpiece of sweeping melody and white-hot virtuosity. The orchestra completes the program with Bartók's Concerto for Orchestra, written during the composer's American years and noted for its vivid color and character. A preview talk with Classical California midday host Alan Chapman begins at 7 p.m. each evening, and image magnification on the big screen will give audiences a closer look at the artists.

The November 19 performance is sponsored by the Colburn Foundation, and Tsujii's appearance is sponsored by The Michelle F. Rohé Fund. The concert hall is located at 615 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, within the Segerstrom Center for the Arts campus.

Tickets and booking: Tickets are now on sale through Pacific Symphony's official ticketing system at tickets.pacificsymphony.org, or via the BUY NOW links on the concert page at pacificsymphony.org. A Symphony Pass option is also offered through the same official page.
